Movement In Serra
Movement in Serra is an improvisational piece performed by a group of dancers based on minimalist sculptor Richard Serra’s 1967-1968 “Verb List Compilation: Actions to Relate to Oneself”. Of this list, 63 verbs have been selected and recorded individually, each as a separate audio track, and put onto a playlist. Played back at random, the playlist creates original 13-minute-long performances where the participants are free to physically interpret the verbs as they hear them. The work explores the concept of impermanence and its relation to the body in space and time. The ever changing movements and the unpredictability of the improvisation invites the viewer to experience continuous interpretation, offering an infinite combination of artistic possibilities.
